Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 31st July 2007
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to the character of the original building and to the form and size of previous extensions to it, the addition of a further extension to this single storey range at right angles to the main building, would detract from the historic character of the building and be out of keeping with the traditional square plan form of the original building. As such the proposal would detract from the special architectural and historic interest and appearance of this grade II listed building and would adversely affect the character and appearance of the Great Milton Conservation Area contrary to Policies CON2, CON3 and CON7 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.
That, having regard to its height, form and position in relation to the existing building, the proposed extension would obscure the rear elevation of the property and would create a cluttered elevation with competing gables to the detriment of the form and character of the original listed building contrary to Policies CON2, CON3, H13 and G6 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and to Section EX2 of the South Oxfordshire Design Guide.
