Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 17th July 2007
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The proposal due to the formal enclosure of an existing area of green space by the erection of a 1.8 metre high fence immediately adjacent to the public footway represents a harsh and intrusive form of development that would erode the verdant setting of St Georges Road and have a detrimental impact on the visual amenity of the streetscene and the character and appearance of the area generally. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policies G2, G6 and D1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011.
The proposed development due to the conversion of the frontage to provide 2 no. car parking spaces would result in a loss of vegetation and soft landscaping at this prominent corner location which would erode the verdant setting of both St Georges Road and Rowland Close and have a detrimental visual impact on the streetscene and character and appearance of the area generally. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policies G2, G6 and D1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011.
The proposed car parking spaces due to their size and location are likely to result in vehicles manoeuvring, parking and overhanging onto the public footway which would cause an obstruction and be detrimental to the safety and convenience of users of the public footway. The proposal is therefore contrary to Policies G2 and D2 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and Policy T8 of the Oxfordshire Structure Plan 2016.
