Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 6th June 2007
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That, having regard to the inappropriate details of design and to the lack of any regard to sustainability and energy efficient design, the development would fail to reinforce local distinctiveness and detract from the character and visual appearance of the locality, contrary to Policies G6, H4, D1 and D8 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.

That, having regard to the relationship of the proposed dwellings relative to the adjoining property, particularly Nos 3 and 4 Droveside, the proposals represent an unneighbourly form of development which would overlook and be oppressive to occupiers of adjoining dwellings, contrary to Policy D4 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.

That, having regard to the lack of private amenity space for the residents of the development, the proposals fail to make adequate provision for the prospective occupiers, contrary to Policy D3 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.

That the development fails to make provision for affordable housing in accordance with Policy H9 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan. Whilst the application proposes units 1 - 6 as 'affordable units', they are not of a size or type which would meet the requirements of those in housing need.

That the development fails to make any provision for essential off-site services, contrary to Policies D11 and R2 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.

That the development results in the loss of trees, the subject of a Tree Preservation Order, the loss of which would detract from the character and appearance of the locality, contrary to Policy C9 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.
