Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 17th September 2007
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The application contains insufficient information to demonstrate that a safe and convenient access to the existing public house car park would be maintained. As a result of the obstruction to the existing access by the proposed pergola, patrons would park on street and this would pose an increased risk to highway safety in this location. The development would therefore be contrary to adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Policies G2, TSM3 and T1 and advice in PPS1 and PPG13.
The application contains insufficient information to demonstrate that the widening of the existing vehicular access would not be required and necessitate works to an adjacent Hornbeam tree, which makes a contribution to the character and appearance of the street scene. The proposal would be likely to threaten its long-term health. The development would therefore be contrary to adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Policies G2, C2 and C9 and advice in PPS7.
