Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The application site occupies a visually prominent position in a predominantly residential area. The proposed advertisements, due to their siting, size and illumination along with the fact that they would not relate to the premises on which they would be displayed, would be an incongruous and prominent feature in the street scene to the detriment of the visual amenity of the site and the surrounding area. As a result the proposal fails to accord with Policy AD1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and guidance contained within Planning Policy Guidance Note 19: Outdoor Advertisement Control.
