Refusal of Conservation Area Consent on 9th August 2007
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
Along with the buildings to be retained on the application site, the structures proposed for demolition, particularly the annexe wing, make a positive contribution to the character and appearance of the Thame Conservation Area. In the absence of an acceptable scheme for the redevelopment of the site, the demolition of the existing buildings is premature and undesirable in relation to the requirement to conserve the character and appearance of the conservation area. As such the proposal is contrary to Policy CON6 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011, and guidance contained within PPG15: Planning and the Historic Environment.
