The proposal is contrary to policies G2, G6, CON7 and H13 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, and to advice contained in the South Oxfordshire Design Guide, in particular paragraphs BD7 and BD11. Having regard to the excessive size and unsatisfactory design of the proposed dormer window and relationship with the existing roof form, the proposed dormer would detract from the form of the existing dwelling, from the character of the terrace of dwellings and would fail to preserve the historic character of the Henley/Reading Road Conservation Area.
