Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The application site occupies a sensitive position within the Thame Conservation Area and adjacent to Grade II listed buildings. Furthermore the site lies in a visually prominent position on Oxford Road, a main approach into the centre of Thame. The proposed advertisements, due to their siting, size, height and design, would be visually prominent and would be incongruous features in the streetscene to the detriment of the visual amenity of the surrounding area. As a result the proposal fails to accord with Policies G2, G6, CON5, CON7 and AD1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and guidance contained within Planning Policy Guidance Note 19: Outdoor Advertisement Control.
