Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 11th November 2005
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would occupy a prominent location in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent to the Goring Gap. The proposed 24 metre high mast and ancillary antenna in the form of an artificial cypress tree would constitute an intrusive and incongruous form of development detrimental to the special landscape character and appearance of this part of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The development would therefore be contrary to the General and Countryside policies G1, G15, C1 and C2 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and policies G2, C1, C2 and TE1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Second Deposit Draft 2003 which seek to protect the District's countryside from inappropriate developments and to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and the special landscape character of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
