Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Oxfordshire Structure Plan which seeks to restrain development outside the county towns (H1) and to restrict sporadic and ribbon development in the open countryside (G5). The site is not allocated for housing development and there are no overriding needs to warrant a departure from the planning policies of the Local Planning Authority.

That the development would be contrary to H6 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and Policy H6 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 (Second Deposit Draft September 2003). The site lies on the edge of the small settlement of Britwell Salome and the proposals would represent an undesirable extension of the limits of the settlement and an extension of development into open countryside.

The development would be contrary to Policies G5 and C3 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and Policy G4 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 (Second Deposit Draft September 2003). The proposal would constitute an extension of residential development into the surrounding countryside beyond the strict confines of Britwell Salome and as such would be detrimental to rural character and visual amenity of the locality which lies within an Area of Great Landscape Value.
