The Development Plan identifies appropriate locations for new development. Planning permission will not be granted for new housing on the edge of settlements which would extend the built up area into the countryside or in the countryside itself. In this case the site is part of an open field on the edge of Tiddington and the provision of a new dwelling would undesirably extend the built up limits of the village into the open countryside to the detriment of the rural character and appearance of the area which lies within an Area of Great Landscape Value. As such the proposal represents an unacceptable form of development that would be contrary to Policies G1, G5, C1, C3 and H6 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and Policies G2, C1, C4 and H6 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Second Deposit Draft.
