The proposals are contrary to policies G1, C1, C2, C13, C14 and C16 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and to policies G2, C1, C6, C7 and C8 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 First Deposit Draft September 2003.  The site of the proposed mast is listed in the Nature Conservancy Council's Inventory of Ancient Woodland for Oxfordshire.  The proposal fails to address the potential for ecological impacts of the proposed mast which would irrevocably damage the integrity of an ancient woodland, and also fails to address the potential for impacts on protected species, specifically badgers and bats.  Ancient woodlands hold a great variety of species and are of key ecological importance.  As such, the proposals, including the track into the woodland, would result in the loss of a number of ancient coppice stools and the loss of a sizeable area of woodland ground flora containing many ancient woodland indicator species.  The proposal is also likely to impact upon badgers and there is a potential for impact on bats which are a protected species.
