The proposal would be contrary to Policy H12 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan, Policy H13 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 Second Deposit Draft 2003 and advice given in Section 4.6 of the South Oxfordshire Design Guide. The erection of a first floor extension up to the boundary with no. 8 Cherry Tree Road will lead to a cramped form of development which would detract from the relatively spacious character of the street scene, could if repeated lead to a terracing effect, would lead to loss of light to neighbouring windows at no.8 Cherry Tree Road and be overbearing to that property.
