Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 30th March 2004
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That having particular regard to its size and design the two-storey side extension would result in an inappropriate and incongruous form of development that would unbalance the symmetry of the existing building and would be detrimental to its character and appearance. In addition the existing building makes a positive contribution to the character and visual amenity of the Goring-on-Thames Conservation Area and the proposal would increase the built up appearance of the site and result in the loss of space around the building which would neither preserve nor enhance the character of the Conservation Area. Therefore the development would be contrary to the Council's Adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G1, G8, CON10 and CF1 and the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 (Second Deposit Draft) policies G2, G6, CON10 and CF2 and to advice in the Council's South Oxfordshire Design Guide.
