Conditions / Refusal Reasons
Having particular regard to its prominent roadside location, the retention of the sign would constitute an obtrusive and inappropriate form of advertising in this location.  As such the advertisement is detrimental to the visual amenities of the locality and would contrary to the provisions of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 1996, in particular policies G1 and G13 and South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011, in particular policies G2 and AD1.

That the signage by virtue of its location relative to the public highway will cause a distraction to highway users which will, in turn be detrimental to highway safety, contrary to policy G13 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 1997 and policy AD1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011.
