Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 17th October 2002
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would occupy a prominent location in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, be adjacent to the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and also the nationally important Ridgeway long distance footpath. The proposed 15 metre high mast and ancillary antenna would constitute an intrusive form of development detrimental to the special landscape character and appearance of this part of the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The development would therefore be contrary to the General and Countryside policies G1, G15, C1 and C2 of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and policies G2, C1, C2 and TE1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 First Deposit Draft, which seeks to protect the District's countryside from inappropriate developments and to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and special landscape character of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
