Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 20th May 2002
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the proposal would occupy a prominent location in the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and be adjacent to the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The proposed 30 metre high guyed radio mast and ancillary antenna and equipment cabin would constitute an intrusive form of development adding to the visual clutter of the national grid pylons in the immediate location detrimental to the special landscape character and appearance of this part of the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The development would thereby be contrary to the General and Countryside policies of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan (policies G1, G15, C1 and C2) which seek to protect the District's countryside from inappropriate developments and to conserve and enhance the natural beauty and special landscape character of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
