Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 26th April 2001
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That having regard to its prominent siting within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, particularly when viewed from the south and from adjacent public footpaths, the proposed 8 metre monopole with associated antenna and ancillary equipment would constitute an intrusive and incongruous form of development that would be detrimental to the special landscape character and appearance of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore, the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies C1, C2 and G15. The applicants' justification for the proposed mast in this location does not warrant any departure from the planning policies of the Local Planning Authority and further consideration should be given to sharing the existing mast nearby.
