The proposal to enlarge the existing opening and to remove the brick lintel above the existing gateway would detract from the historic character of the listed wall and would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the Wallingford Conservation Area. As such the proposal would be contrary to Policies G1, CON7, CON8 and CON10 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan.
