Decision
Refusal of Consent to Display an Advertisement on 26th November 2002
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That having regard to the style, design, materials and the appearance of the signage, the development would detract from the character and appearance of the building, and would fail to preserve or enhance the character of the Henley on Thames Conservation Area. Therefore the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G13, CON8, and CON12 and to the provisions of the Council's First Deposit Draft Local Plan 2011, particularly policies CON8, CON13 and AD1.

That, having regard to their excessive size and siting on the highway, within the Henley Conservation Area, the two free standing advertisements represent an intrusive feature which would detract from the visual amenity of the locality and be an obstruction to users of the highway giving rise to the potential for accidents, contrary to Policy CON8, G13 of the adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan and to the Council's First Deposit Draft Local Plan 2011, particularly policies CON8, CON13 and AD1.
