Refusal of Planning Permission on 28th June 2001
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That having regard to the excessive size of the proposed extension, to its inappropriate details of design and to its poor relationship with the existing cottage the proposal would result in an inappropriate form of development which would fail to respect the character, appearance and scale of the existing dwelling. Furthermore the extension would detract from the visual amenity of the area, which lies within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Therefore the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies C2 and H12 and advice contained
That having regard to its size and height and proximity to the boundary of the site with adjoining properties the proposed two storey extension would result in an overbearing and unneighbourly form of development which would detract from the residential amenities of the occupiers of those dwellings. In this respect the development would be contrary to the provisions of the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policy H12.
