Decision
County Matter - Recommended Refusal on 26th June 2000
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
That the retention of the recycling works in this isolated rural location within an Area of Great Landscape Value has resulted in an inappropriate industrial use detrimental to the pleasant and rural character and appearance of the locality which is designated an an Area of Great Landscape Value. The development is therefore contrary to the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policies G1, C1 and C3.

That the existing road pattern in the vicinity of the site is inadequate to serve the traffic generated by the use, which is detrimental to the safety and and conveniene of users of the highway. The development is therefore contrary to the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan, particularly policy G10.

That having regard to the proximity of nearby dwellings to the highway network, the use of the surrounding narrow rural roads by heavy lorries is unneighbourly by reason of increased noise and disturbance. The development is therefore contrary to the Council's adopted South Oxfordshire Local Plan particularly policy G7.
