Local Plan Direction Correspondence

On 18 June 2019 the Council wrote a letter informing the programme officer and inspectors of upcoming dates of Council meetings considering the Local Plan.

On 1 July 2019 the Council wrote a letter to the programme officer and inspectors to provide an update on the emerging Local Plan and the report setting out options for progressing the plan that was considered at Scrutiny 19 June. The letter also sought clarification on a number of matters relating the examination of the Oxford City Plan.

On 5 July 2019 the Council received the following letter sent via email from the programme officer in response to the Councils letter dated 1 July 2019.

On 10 July 2019 Cllr Sue Cooper received a letter from Ian Hudspeth (Leader of Oxfordshire County Council) regarding the Local Plan Progress. 

There has been an update to the progress of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan following a meeting of Council on 18 July 2019. On 22 July 2019 the Council received a letter from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) regarding the South Oxfordshire Local Plan this can be viewed here. Councillor Sue Cooper responded to this letter on 30 July 2019; the response letter can be viewed here.

On 14 August 2019 the Council wrote a letter informing the programme officer and inspectors of upcoming dates of Council meetings considering the Local Plan.

On 19 August 2019 Cllr Sue Cooper and Cllr Robin Bennett wrote a letter to the leader of Oxford City Council seeking clarification on issues relating to climate change, Oxfords unmet need and the Oxford to Cambridge Expressway. On 19 September 2019 Cllr Sue Cooper received a letter from Prof Ian Chapman (CEO of UKAEA).

On 20 September 2019 a letter was received from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

On 8 October 2019 Adrianna Partridge (Acting Deputy Chief Executive – Transformation and Operations), on behalf of South Oxfordshire District Council, received a letter from Andrew Down (Acting Deputy Chief Executive – Partnership and Planning) on behalf of Vale of White Horse District Council.

On 9 October 2019 Cllr Sue Cooper received a letter from Rt Hon Robert Jenrick MP (Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government).

On 7 January 2020 the council received a letter from Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government addressed to the Leader of the Council, Cllr Sue Cooper, which you can read here .

On 11 January 2020 – Mark Stone (Chief Executive of South Oxfordshire District Council) wrote a letter to Emran Mian, Director General, Decentralisation and Growth, MCHLG regarding South Oxfordshire’s emerging Local Plan 2034. 

On 17 January 2020 – Cllr Sue Cooper wrote a letter  to Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government on behalf of her Cabinet and their groups, in response to his letter of 7 January.

On 11 February 2020 – Oxfordshire County Council voted to accept a possible government invitation to progress the emerging South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2034 – in response Cllr Sue Cooper issued a response.

On 14 February 2020 – following Oxfordshire County Council’s decision, Cllr Sue Cooper wrote to The Rt Hon Robert Jenrick – here’s Cllr Cooper’s letter  .

On 3 March 2020 – Robert Jenrick MP, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government wrote a letter to Cllr Sue Cooper.

On 4 March 2020 – Mark Stone, Chief Executive of South Oxfordshire District Council wrote a letter  to Emran Mian, Director General, Decentralisation and Growth at MCHLG

Monthly Monitoring Meetings

The letter issued on 03 March 2020 by the Secretary of State, directed the Council to progress the plan through examination to be adopted by December 2020, and for senior council officers to report monthly to MHCLG officials on progress of the plan.
