Inspections and food hygiene rating
We are responsible for inspecting all food businesses within the district to make sure they are meeting food safety requirements.
We carry out unannounced inspections every six months to two years, depending on the nature and history of the business.
At the end of each inspection the business receives an inspection report, which gives details of any actions that are needed to improve food hygiene standards and a food hygiene rating in line with the Food Standard Agency’s guidelines.
If there are any serious non-compliances, our officers will take formal action in line with our enforcement policy to secure compliance to meet the necessary food safety requirements.
