Sports and Leisure Study to 2034

We are looking at the future of sport and leisure facilities in the district.

We have created a leisure study following an extensive assessment of the leisure facilities in the district such as running tracks, sports halls and football pitches as well as playgrounds and allotments.

This leisure study is intended to inform planners and developers for the next 15 years so that they include all the necessary leisure provision for the area’s growing population.

Local Plan 2034

The consultation on the South Oxfordshire local plan closed on Monday 18 February. This set out development plans for the area until 2034 with certain sites made available for housing. You can see the current update here.

We carried out a survey last year on the leisure facilities available across the district.  After the survey and following revisions to the South Oxfordshire local plan we have made additions to our leisure study to reflect these changes.

The leisure study was evidence considered alongside the South local plan.

The new addendum documents which form part of the leisure study can be found here.
