Sacks
How do I use my sacks?
As your property has been identified as unsuitable for using wheeled bins, we have provided you with a year's worth of sacks as an alternative to the bin system. There are enough sacks for you to use up to four green recycling sacks and three pink rubbish sacks every fortnight. Please do not exceed this amount, as we are unable to provide extra sacks. We will supply you with more sacks every year.
Extra recycling
If you have extra recycling (or have run out of green sacks) you can put it out in clear or opaque bags, but since we don't collect extra side waste with our grey bins, we will only take up to three rubbish sacks per collection day.
Next delivery date
The next delivery of sacks will be due in October 2012, which will be a six month supply, with the next delivery in October 2010. Residents will need to sign for the delivery so we can keep a record that people have received their full supply.
We are happy to provide wheeled bins to any households that are currently on sacks, who may feel they are actually able to accommodate the wheeled bins. Please contact us to find out more.
Below is a quick reminder of what goes in the sacks:
Green sacks - mixed recycling
The green sacks are for all your recycling, including:
- mixed paper and card
- steel and aluminium food and drink cans
- aluminium foil
- household plastic packaging including plastic bottles, food trays, yoghurt pots, plastic bags etc
- glass bottles and jars
- aerosols
- food and drink cartons
Maximum of four green bags per collection.
Pink sacks - rubbish (non recyclables)
This is for any rubbish left after you have removed your food waste and recycling. Maximum of three pink bags per collection.
Collection days
We will collect your food waste every week, and your rubbish and recycling on alternate weeks. Please refer to your information pack (found inside your food waste bin) for your collection days and for further information. Collection dates for green wheeled bins apply to your green sacks and for grey wheeled bins apply to your pink sacks. So, on a green week, put out your food waste and green recycling sacks and on a grey week put out your food waste and pink rubbish sacks.
