Step five - getting funding

Once you’ve successfully designated your neighbourhood plan area, we will apply to the government for financial support for your plan. We’ll write to you to explain how much funding we can offer you – currently it is:

  • £15,000 for a town council
  • £10,000 for a larger village
  • £5,000 for a smaller village
  • Grant for combined areas will be assessed according to the larger settlement

Before we can provide you with your grant, we will need to see and approve your project plan for developing your neighbourhood plan.  There’s more information on this in Step Six.

Other funds

You can apply for up to £8,000 more from the government by visiting the My Community website This link will take you to an external website... . If you have more complex issues than most areas, you can apply for specific technical support and possibly a further £6,000.
