Benson Neighbourhood Plan

Benson Parish Council is working on creating a neighbourhood plan. The process empowers local communities to help direct and shape the way their area grows and develops into the future. A neighbourhood plan will form part of the development plan, which helps to determine planning applications.

What’s happening now?

Following the independent examination of the Benson Neighbourhood Plan by John Slater, South Oxfordshire District Council has agreed that the plan should now proceed to referendum.

The referendum will take place on Thursday, 28 June 2018, and will determine if the plan should be made. Take a look at:

To vote you must be registered to vote in local elections by Tuesday, 12 June 2018 and live in the referendum area. Make sure you Register to Vote if you haven’t already. If residents vote to adopt the neighbourhood plan it will then be presented to South Oxfordshire District Council to be made as part of the Development Plan.

More information on the process is available on our Neighbourhood Planning home page. If you would like to discuss neighbourhood planning with a member of the team, please call us on 01235 422600 or email planning.policy@southoxon.gov.uk.
