How to find the Castle Meadows

The meadows are open to the public every day of the year and can be accessed from the following locations:

From Cemetery Lane, off Castle Street/Shillingford Road

From a new link through the Town Gardens, off Castle Street between the following hours:

  • 1st October - 31st March - Mon - Sun 10am until 3pm
  • 1st April - 31st May - Mon - Fri 10am until 4pm and weekends 10am until 6pm
  • 1st June - 30th September - Mon - Fri 10am until 5pm and weekends 10am until 6pm

From two points along the Thames Path running from Wallingford to Benson. The towpath at Wallingford is along Castle Lane, which is off the High Street between the Town Arms and the Boathouse Public Houses. Please note that this towpath is subject to flooding.

By car - parking and disabled access

There is no car parking on the site however, there are several car parks in Wallingford within easy walking distance of the site. In addition there is very limited parking available in Cemetery Lane which can be used as a drop off/pick up point.

The nearest car parks are Thames Street, Wallingford and Riverside Park, Crowmarsh Gifford. You can view a location map of the area from the menu on the right.

Riverside car park

A large grass car park situated on the opposite side of the river with disabled facilities available.  Access to the site is via the Thames Path National Trail. 

Thames Street car park

Located in Wallingford town centre a short walk from Castle Lane, access to the site is along the towpath. 

By public transport

Bus stops located close to the site can be found on the location map on the right of the page.  Further details on local bus services can be found on the Oxfordshire County Council and Thames Travel websites.
