Adapting to climate change
The world's climate is changing. Summers are hotter, winters are wetter and weather conditions are more varied and unpredictable. The average temperature in the UK rose by 0.6 º C over the past 100 years. A significant part of this climate change is thought to be due to human activities.
Whenever we drive a car or use electricity in our homes, we are producing 'greenhouse gases', such as carbon dioxide, that contribute to climate change. Experts believe that some climate change will be evident by the 2020s as a result of emissions already made. What happens after that depends on the action we take now to reduce emissions.

The council needs to adapt to changing weather conditions and ensure that it can still deliver its services, whatever the weather. Our Local Climate Impacts Profile (LCLIP) report is available to download from the menu on the right. This is an advisory report for South Oxfordshire District Council setting out actions that the council could take to tackle weather related risks.
