Mountain Warehouse joins retail line-up at Orchard Centre, Didcot
Outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse has taken space at the increasingly popular expanded Orchard Centre, owned and managed by Hammerson.
Opening on 31 August, the 2,050 sq ft store will offer an extensive range of clothing and equipment for numerous outdoor activities, including walking, running, cycling, camping and skiing. Established in 1997 by founder Mark Neale, Mountain Warehouse is now the largest outdoor retailer in the UK with over 300 stores worldwide.
This latest signing follows a recent announcement that mother and baby boutique retailer, JoJo Maman Bebe has also opened a store in Didcot. The Orchard Centre already has an attractive line-up of fashion brands including FatFace, designer shoe retailer Soletrader, as well as fashion favourites H&M, River Island, Next and TK Maxx.
Café Bar, Berro Lounge has also opened at the centre this August along with Didcot’s first Nando’s restaurant. Berro Lounge forms part of the town’s new dining offer, serving brunch, salads, and burgers, as well as an impressive drinks list ranging from delicate herbal teas, juices and smoothies to fine wines and cocktails.
The expansion of the Orchard Centre has kick-started the future growth of Didcot town centre, as part of wider plans to transform Didcot into a garden town, which aims to deliver 20,000 new jobs and 15,000 new homes over the next 20 years.
Cllr Bill Service, cabinet member for partnership and insight at South Oxfordshire District Council, said, “Didcot is a desirable location and with the Chilterns, the Ridgeway and Wittenham Clumps on our doorstep, it is the perfect location for Mountain Warehouse to open.”
Andrew Berger-North, UK Director of Retail Parks at Hammerson, said: “With the recent growth in the health and wellbeing sector, Mountain Warehouse is a great addition for shoppers in the region. We are delighted that the recent expansion continues to attract high quality brands to make their debut in the town.”
