Annual voluntary and community sector forum event

Released on March 1, 2018

Voluntary and community groups will once again be getting together for this year’s forum at Cornerstone in Didcot on 14 March, supported by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils.

The free all-day event is an opportunity for people who work in the voluntary and community group sectors to attend workshops, discuss ideas and share advice in a relaxed and friendly environment.

This year’s theme is ‘resilience’ and how organisations can become more robust – with training sessions such as how to MOT your organisation, finding volunteers, funding eligibility and using social media to protect your organisation.

The day starts at 9.45am with a welcome from Mike Jennings, Chairman of Jennings and updates from Councillors John Cotton and Eric Batts from the district councils.

Other speakers include Head of Policy and Public Services at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and the CEO’s from Oxfordshire Community and Voluntary Action and Oxfordshire Community Foundation.

Councillor John Cotton, Leader of South Oxfordshire District Council said, “We have supported the forums for over a decade and are proud to be able to help support the work the voluntary and community sector does to benefit families and individuals right across our region.”

Councillor Eric Batts, from the Vale of White Horse District Council said, “The day is an excellent opportunity for everyone to find out what is happening in their sectors as well as providing invaluable time to reflect and share experiences and successes with others.”

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils are organising the day in partnership with OCVA to deliver a training and network day for anyone working for local community groups and voluntary organisations across the south Oxfordshire area.

The annual forum is very popular the district councils and OCVA anticipate over 100 people attending.
