Science Vale UK companies star in new science film
Local business leaders from cutting edge science and technology companies based across the Science Vale UK region are spreading the word on why it’s such a great place to do business.
To encourage more high-tech life and space science organisations to set up shop in the Science Vale, South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils have created a brand-new video to raise awareness of the area’s exceptional qualities.
The short film features local business leaders sharing their thoughts on why people and companies relocate to the Science Vale and its enterprise zones – areas that provide tax incentives and business support to new and expanding firms.
Cutting edge companies such as Reaction Engines and Tokamak Energy took part alongside award winning businesses like Blubel and Oxford Space Systems.
One participant in the video, Steven Moss from Culham Science Centre explained how the region has a totally “unique cluster of organisations, enterprises, places, facilities and people for science and technology in the UK.”
Angus Horner from the Harwell Campus Partnership summed up how important the region is when he said its “a rich environment for adding huge amounts of value into the UK economy, but also and, perhaps most importantly, improving the human condition.”
Mike Murray, cabinet member for development at Vale of White Horse District Council, said, “Science Vale UK area is extremely beneficial to the local economy. Local business leaders explained it perfectly in their own words on why they think the location is a vital part of their success.”
David Nimmo-Smith, cabinet member for development at South Oxfordshire District Councillor said, “The video is a snapshot on why our region is ideal not just for business but employees too. It highlights the excellent education and career opportunities as well as community life and the two neighbouring Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.”

Produced by South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils, the video promotes the Science Vale UK region to international science and technology businesses.
It is part of the district councils’ ‘BE in Science Vale UK’ promotion raising the profile of the region to encourage companies to move to local science parks and enterprise zones to help deliver 20,000 new jobs to the region by 2031.
