Housing plans given the go ahead in Didcot

Released on July 3, 2017

Plans for 1,880 homes, including affordable housing, north of Didcot have been given the go-ahead and once the district council has agreed the detailed plans, building work can begin.

The new development will be supported by a new secondary school and two new primary schools, along with parks, sports pitches, a pavilion and a community centre. It also includes space for a new leisure centre.

The site is included in the Didcot Garden Town draft delivery plan, which sets out how the district council proposes how to manage the growth in Didcot effectively and efficiently.

Adrian Duffield, Head of Planning for South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “We’re pleased that we’ve been able to give building work at this site the green light - the development is an important part of our plans for growth in South Oxfordshire and it will contribute nearly 500 affordable homes to the area.”
