Torch Relay leaflets set for South Oxfordshire delivery

Released on May 24, 2012

Leaflets highlighting important information about what will happen on the morning that the Olympic Torch Relay passes through South Oxfordshire will be distributed to residents in the coming weeks.

The leaflets, produced by South Oxfordshire District Council, give details about the route the Torch will follow in Wallingford and Crowmarsh Gifford, Nettlebed; and Henley, together with detailed information about road closures, parking and general advice for getting the most out of this historic event.

The leaflets are being delivered to residents through the following channels –

  • Wallingford – as an insert in the June edition of “Window for Wallingford”,
  • Crowmarsh Gifford – as an insert in the June edition of “Crowmarsh News”,
  • Nettlebed – delivered by local volunteers to houses on High Street and Watlington Street and will also be available in local amenities,
  • Henley – as an insert in the Friday 15 June edition of the Henley Standard, and as a Royal Mail leaflet drop to homes on and near to the Torch route.

Businesses on the route will also receive a hand delivered copy during June, along with further information detailing how they can take advantage of the event.  An electronic version of the leaflet will also be emailed to those organisations on the council’s database.

Cllr Ann Ducker, Leader of South Oxfordshire District Council, said: “We have already seen from the early stages of Olympic Torch Relay that this is a major event that vast numbers want to be part of.  We hope that by providing information directly to residents on or near the specific Torch route areas we can make sure that our chance to shine goes as smoothly as possible and that people are well prepared for Tuesday 10 July.”
