Health Walks

It's an exciting time for health walks!

If you haven’t heard about health walks already, it’s a community project which involves setting up programmes of walks in local communities.  The scheme is all about helping people who don't get much exercise (for whatever reason) to get out and improve their fitness.

All walks are led by experienced, friendly walk leaders who will welcome you to the group and support you on your walk. One walk leader walks at the front of the group and another at the back so that all paces can be accommodated.

Walks are graded so you can start with the shortest distance and gradually build up as you get fitter and more confident.

First Steps - a flat, easy walk for beginners, 1 - 2 miles

Grade C - gentle hills with no stiles, 2 - 3 miles

Grade B - moderate hills and/or stiles, 3 - 4 miles

Grade A - steep hills and stiles, 4 - 5 miles

It's FUN, FRIENDLY and FREE!

There are Health Walks in Sonning Common, Benson, Chalgrove, Thame, Goring and Didcot.  New walkers are always welcome to join so please check the timetables:

You can view/download timetables for Didcot, Sonning Common, Goring, Chalgrove and Benson from the menu on the right.

We are always keen to find people who would be interested in leading health walks.  If you have a little time to spare and would like to help others enjoy walking or require any further information about health walks, volunteering or equipment please contact our Sports Development Officer on 01491 823128 or email leisure@southoxon.gov.uk
