Health Walks

It's an exciting time for health walks!

If you haven’t heard about health walks already, it’s a community project which involves setting up programmes of walks in local communities.  The scheme is all about helping people who don't get much exercise (for whatever reason) to get out and improve their fitness.  It's a very sociable, fun and free way of improving your health.

There are Health Walks in Sonning Common, Benson, Goring, Didcot, Wheatley and Thame.  New walkers are always welcome to join so please check the following timetables:

Thame - Meet outside the entrance to Thame Sports and Leisure Centre, 10.30am every Saturday.  The walk is 1 to 3 miles and is suitable for all abilities.

Wheatley - Meet outside the entrance to the Park Sports Centre, Holton, 10.00am every Thursday. The walk is approximately 2 miles and there are some gentle hills with an occasional stile.

You can view/download timetables for Didcot, Sonning Common,  Goring and Benson from the menu on the right.

We are currently trying to find people who would be interested in leading the walks.  If you have a little time to spare and would like to help others enjoy walking or require any further information about health walks, volunteering or equipment please contact our Health Walks Co-ordinator on 01491 823135 or email leisure@southoxon.gov.uk
