Pest control

The council provides a pest control service (charges apply) at only domestic premises for the treatment of:

Unfortunately the council is not able to deal with:

  • ants
  • badgers
  • bats
  • bees
  • cockroaches
  • flies
  • foxes
  • pigeons
  • moles
  • moths 
  • squirrels
  • snakes

How long does it take?

You can usually expect a visit within 5 days, however, there may be a delay during times of increased demand for service. 

The council has appointed a contractor, Total Pest Control (UK) Ltd to provide this service.

The charges including VAT are:

  • Rats and mice: £26.00 contribution - (unless the premises keeps animals that are not classed as domestic pets, for example, chickens, where a charge of £45 may apply)
  • Wasps/hornets nests: £45
  • Fleas: £85

Treatment is free only for residents receiving full housing and council tax benefits (unless the premises keeps animals that are not classified as domestic pets as above).
