Requirements for food businesses

Recent changes to food hygiene laws have meant that food businesses now must have written procedures to show that food is safe to eat.  These are called ‘food safety management procedures’.

There is also a requirement for food businesses to be able to demonstrate where they buy their ingredients from, and when they supply other businesses, who these are.  This is known as ‘traceability’.

Almost all of the other requirements in the new regulations are the same as the regulations they replace.  Further information on these can be found on the Food Standards Agency website.
