Improving Services

We are progressing our electronic government programme to help us improve our services.

On 12th October 2006 Cabinet approved the E-Government Strategy and Action Plan to 2008/09. It sets out our vision of improved service delivery and a strategy for achieving it. It can be viewed/downloaded from the menu on the right, where a progress report up to July 2007 is also available.

We have committed to improve our services by ensuring that they are:

  • Available equally to everyone
  • Arranged around our customers' needs, and available:
    - where they are needed
    - when they are needed
    - in the way that the person wants
  • Integrated with those of our partners to provide a service where common interactions can be completed in a single session
  • Delivered or supported electronically wherever practical

We are now providing all our services electronically, where this is practical. We are raising awareness of the services that are available. We are working with users to ensure that the services we provide online meet their needs, and improving services where necessary.

On 7th October 2004 Cabinet approved the E-Government Strategy and Action Plan 2004-06 (also available on the right). We have developed our current strategy from this previous document.

We have compiled annual reports on our progress towards meeting the goals. Our most recent statement (IEG6) was submitted to the Government in April 2006 (also available on the right).
