Community Safety Strategy 2008 -2011

The current Community Safety Strategy runs until March 2011 and addresses the following priorities:

  • reducing antisocial behaviour
  • improving road safety
  • reducing drug and alcohol problems
  • tackling domestic abuse
  • reducing acquisitive crime
  • behaviour management
  • supporting and engaging communities

The strategy also contains details of how the members of the community safety partnership will work to achieve these aims. To read the strategy, please follow the link in the right hand column of this page.

Action plans 2009-10

We have produced annual action plans and detailed targets to show how we will deliver the priorities.  To read the Community Safety Strategy actions plans, please follow the link in the right hand column of this page. Each of our action groups is responsible for delivering the action plans.

Action groups

The following action groups will deliver the action plans:
• antisocial behaviour action group
• drugs and alcohol action group (joint with the Vale Community Safety Partnership)
• domestic violence action group (joint with the Vale Community Safety Partnership)
• road safety action group (joint group with the Vale Community Safety Partnership)

Resources

The partner organisations provide resources to fund the initiatives that they are individually responsible for within the strategy.  In addition, the Home Office provides funding to each community safety partnership, which can be spent on crime and disorder reduction initiatives.  The partnership can also make small grants to community organisations for projects that will help to achieve the community safety strategy's objectives.
