Riverside Meadows
Riverside Meadows lies immediately to the south of Wallingford Bridge, which is a scheduled ancient monument within the Chilterns, contains 3 known important archaeological sites. The area also hosts the annual Wallingford Regatta and Raft race.
The Council purchased land at Riverside Meadows in 2001, to safeguard the site from the threat of development.
South Oxfordshire District Council and the Northmoor Trust jointly manage the Meadows. We have included interpretation boards with information about the Meadows. Please take notice of the guidance given on these signs. Riverside Meadows 5-year management plan
The Council has prepared a 5-year management plan for the meadows which aims to provide public access, archaeological interpretation and wildlife value to the area. You can download a copy of the plan from the menu on the right.
Events
The Northmoor Trust organise a programme of events running throughout the year, some of which take place at Riverside Meadows. You can download a copy of the events leaflet from the menu on the right.
Volunteering
Volunteers play an important role in the management of the site and there are many opportunities to get involved. There are many tasks undertaken by volunteers including; helping with practical management, becoming a volunteer warden or helping with wildlife recording.
If you are interested in practical conservation and would like to volunteer; Wallingford Green Gym meets every Tuesday and one Saturday each month. For more information contact the Co-ordinator on 01491 826157 or view the current programme.
