New national bus pass and travel token

South Oxfordshire District Council offers free passes to:-

  • people aged 60 or over
  • the disabled and their travel companion

The scheme allows pass holders free off-peak bus travel anywhere within England on Local Bus Services.  The bus pass does not include long distance services such as National Express.  It also does not include Scotland and Wales.

The National Bus Pass

  • Offers free off-peak local travel anywhere in England and is valid for 3 years
  • The new scheme offers free travel from 9.30am to 11.00pm on weekdays and all day at weekends and bank holidays.  Although, travel in South Oxfordshire District Council area will be permitted from 9am. 
  • Can be used on relevant community transport schemes such as the Henley Handibus and the Fish volunteer bus in Sonning Common.

Please note that the bus pass cannot be used on tours and excursions.

Travel Tokens

  • have a value of £1 each
  • can be used on buses, taxis or towards the cost of a rail pass
  • Can be used on voluntary schemes 
  • Can be used on relevant community transport schemes such as Henley Handibus and the Fish volunteer bus in Sonning Common.

Please note that travel tokens cannot be used on tours or excursions.
