The role of Town and Parish Councils

Town and parish councils have a range of responsibilities including:

  • representing the local community’s interests, for example, by commenting on planning applications
  • supporting local organisations and activities, for example with grants
  • providing amenities, such as allotments, burial grounds, bus shelters and public seats
  • looking after green spaces and footpaths.

The Oxfordshire Association of Local Councils  represents and supports town and parish councils, and can provide more information on their role. Follow the link on the right to visit their site.
