Supporting our town centres

We work with the business community, town councils and community groups in each of our market towns to help ensure they are vibrant places to live and work.

To find out about the work going on in the different market towns please visit our pages at

Our economic development team is also responsible for monitoring the health and vitality of town centres and undertake a retail vacancy survey, footfall survey and maintain a vacant commercial property database.

If you have ideas that you would like to share with us, please contact the Economic Development team.

Tourism is one of South Oxfordshire's key sectors.  It attracts over four million visitors every year and brings over £228 million to the local economy.

The council's role in supporting tourism is to attract more visitors to the district. To help achieve this it has a dedicated tourism website.  The website holds information on the district's accommodation, attractions and events.
