Residents' panel

How you can volunteer and have your say

What is the residents' panel?

The panel is made up of about 1,000 residents and is broadly representative of the local population. Panel members have all volunteered to give their views on the services South Oxfordshire District Council provides.

What does being a member of the panel involve?

Panel members are invited to take part in around three questionnaires a year, either online or by post. Occasionally, we ask people if they would like to attend an event or give their views in another way.

How are the findings used?

We use an independent research company, Plus Four Market Research, to help us carry out the surveys. They analyse the information and give the council a report of the findings. They will not name anyone in the report so your responses are anonymous. Senior managers consider what the panel have told us and agree an action plan of things we will do differently in response.

We keep panel members upto date by sending a newsletter with each questionnaire so you can see what people have told us and what we are doing in response.

Joining the panel

We are always keen to hear from new people who would like to take part. You can request to join the panel online:

Alternatively, if you would like a paper copy of the registration form please contact the Consultation Officer.

Please note that because the panel is broadly representative of the local population if we already have enough people, for example in a particular age group, you might not be able to join the panel straight away. If that’s the case we will let you know.
